Eir overhauls its mobile plans, giving customers more data than ever
Eir has launched a range of new bill pay, sim only and broadband bundles, representing a change in strategy within the company.

Eir, Ireland's largest total communications provider, has announced the introduction of a portfolio of new bill pay and mobile plans. This comes as the company continues a transformation following the takeover by Xavier Niel, a French Billionaire, earlier this year.
The new plans replace Eir's older offerings and provide much greater value. Each of the new bill pay and sim only plans provide customers with significantly more data to enjoy than what was previously available. Whats more, the new plans benefit existing Eir broadband customers who can avail of discounts on the new plans. This bolsters Eir's quad-play offering and ecosystem of services which includes mobile, broadband, TV and landline.
The introduction of these new plans also coincides with a visual redesign of Eir's website, which is now less flashy and more modern.

New Bill Pay Plans
For new customers
For existing customers
Eir has abandoned its dated bill pay offerings, which included four plans, and replaced them with three new plans. The most expensive plan, costing €70 monthly for new customers and €60 monthly for existing customers gives you 60GB of data to enjoy. The plan also includes unlimited calls and texts, 600 international minutes and texts and the ability to use your full domestic data allowance in the EU, something that was previously only available to Vodafone customers. As a matter of comparison, Vodafone's €80 monthly bill pay plan gives customers only 30GB to use. With this plan, Eir customers can enjoy the same data allowance that is available with Three.
There is also a more moderately priced €55 monthly plan for new customers and €45 for existing customers which gives you 40GB of data to enjoy, unlimited calls and texts and the ability to use your full domestic data allowance in the EU. The least expensive plan costs €40 for new customers and €30 for existing customers, providing 10GB of data and unlimited texts, 200 minutes, and the ability to use your full domestic data allowance in the EU.
All of these bill pay plans give you the ability to use Eir Sport and Hayu on your mobile for free and lock you to Eir for twenty-four months. You can also benefit from WiFi Calling, which allows customers to make a call even when there is no network signal available.

New Sim Only Plans
For new customers
For existing customers
The new sim only plans, shown above, offer free Eir Sport and Hayu access on your phone. The plans also give customers the ability to use their full domestic data allowance in the EU.
For €35 monthly for new customers, and €25 monthly for existing customers, you can enjoy 50GB of data combined with unlimited calls and texts, and 200 international minutes and texts. The cheaper plan, costing €20 for the first six months for new customers (rising to €30 thereafter) and €14.99 for existing customers for the first six months (rising to €25 thereafter), gives you 25GB of data to enjoy and unlimited calls and texts.
As these plans are sim only, you can enjoy the flexibility that a 30-day contract provides. Comparing these plans to those offered by Vodafone, which provides only 5GB of data for €30, it is easy to see which is the better option. The plans are also competitive with Three's 60GB sim only offering for €30 monthly. Without a doubt, if you are an existing Eir broadband customer, these should be your mobile plans of choice.

New Broadband Bundles
Eir is Ireland's largest broadband provider, and you will be happy to learn that the company has overhauled some of its broadband plans also. The new bundles, shown above, offer a combination of broadband and mobile, TV or landline. Each of the bundles includes free access to Eir Sport and a twelve-month contract.
The best plan, which bundles broadband and landline, costs €40 for twelve months, rising to €60 after twelve months if you wish to continue with the plan. There is also a plan that bundles Eir's TV service, Eir Vision, with broadband for €55 monthly for the first twelve months, rising to €75 thereafter.

Change is in the Eir
These overhauled plans represent a change in strategy within Eir, and a desire to become more competitive. Eir's mobile division is the smallest amongst Ireland's three mobile networks and enjoys the lowest average revenue per user of the three. As mentioned, these new plans put those offered by Vodafone to shame and are competitive with Three's offerings.
Perhaps the most important change with these plans is the excellent discounts that are available to existing Eir broadband customers. These discounts will likely result in more of Eir's broadband base also choosing the company for mobile. It is also encouraging to see Eir giving customers the ability to use their full domestic data allowance in the EU on the new plans.
Undoubtedly, these plans will bring more competition to Vodafone and Three, and that will directly benefit consumers in Ireland.
