The Best Mobile Plans for your Business

Eir: For Social Media Users

Picture
Eir's business plans are great for those that need to call and text frequently. Each plan gives you unlimited calls to landlines. The best plan costs €20 monthly. There's plenty of data available on all but the €25 plan. Eir zero-rates services such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Whatsapp and Twitter. The use of these services does not eat into your data allowance. It is a very neat feature for Eir customers, even if it does raise concerns of violating Net Neutrality. Using services such as Netflix, or any service not included, will eat into your data allowance.

Eir limits your domestic data allowance abroad, avoid choosing Eir if you plan to travel frequently. For example, Eir's €20 plan shown above limits you to a mere 6.5GB of data when roaming in Europe and just 1GB in the USA. International calls and texts are included in each plan, with unlimited calls and texts to the UK, Europe and USA included with the €20 and €45 plans. Eir customers can also take advantage of WiFi Calling, particularly useful if coverage is poor in your premises.

With Eir, you can expect good 4G coverage (96% population coverage), similar to Three's network but behind Vodafone. Don't be surprised if you have to battle slow speeds as 4G speeds have collapsed dramatically on the network in recent months. Eir's 3G network is also shockingly poor, significantly smaller than that of Three or Vodafone. The network's coverage map is ridiculously inaccurate, don't rely on it if you are researching the coverage of Eir's 4G network. If you're a business that requires a reliable connection on a constant basis, whether that be for calls, texts or data, don't choose Eir.

Vodafone: Super for Roaming

Picture
No surprise, Vodafone's business plans are easily the most expensive on the Irish market. The data allowances are just too small.  However, Vodafone's bill pay plans are excellent for those need to call and text. Each plan offers unlimited calls and texts to any network in Ireland. Each of the plans offers a varying amount of international calls and texts. Choose Vodafone if you plan to roam abroad, it is the only Irish network that allows businesses to use their full domestic data allowance across the EU at no extra cost. Also, Vodafone is the only Irish network to provide international 4G roaming.

Of course, Vodafone must have some unique selling point to justify its expensive plans, and it definitely does. The company boasts the fastest 4G speeds in Ireland, the largest 4G footprint and the most reliable network. Vodafone continues to win awards for the supremacy of its network. All of this is supported by firms such as OpenSignal, ComReg, Ookla and P3 whose results show that Vodafone has the fastest and most reliable network in Ireland. For businesses that require a constant reliable connection, look no further than Vodafone.

RED Business Complete and RED Business Prime give businesses access to Vodafone's 4G+ network, allowing you to access the fastest mobile speeds on this island. Vodafone also provides Secure Net, a service that analyses your internet traffic to protect you from viruses and sensitive content. The plans lock your business to Vodafone for two years, a costly two years if you're unhappy with your service. But that's unlikely, ComReg's statistics show Vodafone has the lowest number of complaints relating to service issues.

Other benefits with RED Business Complete and RED Business Prime include the choice of cloud storage from Microsoft One Drive or Mobile Marketing Campaign tools. No other mobile network has the same experience and international presence as Vodafone, a major reason to choose the network for your business.

Three: Perfect for those that require Data

Picture
If your business requires lots of data, Three should be your number one choice. All of Three's plans give you 60GB of data to enjoy, a significantly larger allowance than those provided by other networks. All of Three's plans, shown above, feature unlimited calls and texts to any network in Europe.

Don't choose Three if your business requires international roaming. The network limits its customer's data allowance in the EU to a fraction of the domestic allowance. All of Three's plans lock you to the network for two years, an excruciatingly long period of time if you're unhappy with the service. Three's network has come a long way, now providing the second largest footprint of 4G coverage and second fastest 4G speeds behind Vodafone. The network has, however, developed a reputation of providing a poor quality service to its customers. Three's network is behind Vodafone in pretty much every way, don't choose Three if you need a constant reliable connection.

Three officially forbids the use of your phone as a hotspot, you may incur significant charges if you decide to use this feature. This is a huge disappointment for many, especially considering you have unlimited data. Three has its own loyalty programme, 3Plus, which is arguably the best out there. You can use the 3Plus app to avail of discounts in many shops, win tickets, and more. International calls and texts are available on Plus and Unlimited plans shown above.

Virgin Media: Cheap Data

Picture
Virgin Media's plans are similar to that of Three, providing business with plenty of data. Unlimited data (30GB) is available on VOOM Mobile Unlimited and VOOM Mobile International. Virgin Media is an MVNO or Mobile Virtual Network Operator on the Three network. In short, when using Virgin's network, you are actually using Three's infrastructure. That means the same coverage and speeds are those found on the Three network.

Virgin isn't the network to choose for roaming. Your business's unlimited data will be limited to a fraction of that in the EU and elsewhere. Unlimited calls and texts to any network in Ireland are included on all of the plans. Choose Virgin if you require lots of data in Ireland.
