Google Nexus 9

Design

Google has partnered with HTC to build the Nexus 9. HTC are famous for their slick and clean designs. Unfortunately the Nexus 9 has a very poor design. The back of the tablet is a cheap soft touch rubber plastic and the sides are crafted out of aluminum. The Nexus 9 has a width of 8 mm and a weight of 425g. Samsung's tablets even feel better than the Nexus 9. Altogether the Nexus 9 design leaves a lot to be desired.

display

The Nexus 9 has an 8.9" display with an impressive resolution of 1536 x 2048. The display is bright and vivid and very power efficient. It has one of the best displays on a tablet but can't compete to Samsung's 2K tablets. The display has Gorilla Glass 3 technology making it scratch resistant and shatter proof. Altogether the Nexus 9 has a great display that is super for playing games and watching high definition movies.

PERFORMANCE

The Nexus 9 has a blazing fast Nvidia Tegra K1 clocked at 2.3 GHz. For graphics HTC has given the Nexus 9 the Kepler DX1. The Nexus 9 is probably the fastest and most power efficient tablet on the market. The Kepler DX1 allows the Nexus 9 to even play games for consoles. At the moment there is no games that take full advantage of the Nexus 9 GPU. The CPU is a 64 bit Nvidia K1 allowing the Nexus 9 to download huge files in an instant. The 64 bit architecture makes the Nexus 9 very future proof. HTC has given it 2 GB of RAM. Altogether the Nexus 9 is very snappy and power efficient.

Camera

The Nexus 9 has an 8 MP camera which is only okay. The camera is good outside but poor in low light situations. HTC has kindly added a LED flash. The photos lack colour and sometimes even look dark. The Nexus 9 captures full HD video and has stereo microphones. Videos turns out fluid and sharp. Altogether the Nexus 9 has an okay camera at best, its camera is not reliable and photos turn out to be dark.

Software

The Nexus 9 runs Stock Android 5.0. The software runs smooth and quick on the Nexus 9. Android 5.0 is very clean and power efficient. The Nexus 9 will always receive the first Android updates because its a Google device. Altogether the Nexus 9 has great software that is smooth, Clean and future proof.

New Features

The Nexus 9 does not have many features but it does have a few. HTC has given the Nexus 9 stereo front firing speakers that sound clear and loud. The Nexus 9 has a very impressive battery lasting up to 3 days. The battery is 6700 mAh but is not removable. From your home screen you can say 'Okay Google' and it will bring you to Google to ask questions. There is also a nice power saving mode which saves up to 5 hours more battery but by limiting the blazing fast GPU and CPU

Conclusion

Altogether the Google Nexus 9 is a good tablet. Its poor design and bad camera let it down. On the bright side it has great software, Crisp clear and loud speakers, blazing fast GPU and CPU but we would still recommend the iPad Air 2 over the Nexus 9.

Pros

Good display

Very fast CPU and GPU

Always latest software

Super Battery Life

Cons

Very poor build

Not many features

Poor camera
iPad Air 2
